The championship lead in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series changed hands for the second time in two Chase races. A pit issue and a hit against the wall cost Layne Riggs the advantage he held over Kaden Honeycutt, who now leads the standings by 37 points following what happened at Kansas Speedway.

Riggs arrived at the weekend defending just three points over Honeycutt, the same story Bristol had left in the first round of the playoffs, when he controlled whole stretches of the race and still finished far from the front due to a pit malfunction. At Kansas, almost the same script repeated itself. The No. 34 Ford was again among the fastest and once more fell out of contention when the team dropped the jack before finishing the tire change, forcing Riggs to leave his pit box without the service completed just before the rain arrived.
The weather delay lasted nearly five hours, with Grant Enfinger at the front after staying out without changing tires. During the wait, there was a possibility the result would be decided in that order if the race could not be restarted, but NASCAR managed to dry the track and the trucks returned to action with Honeycutt immediately reclaiming the lead.

Riggs charged from the back of the field to put himself in second place again, and for a moment it looked like the two title contenders would once again decide the race between themselves. The cost of that comeback ended up being high. With two laps to go he hit the outside wall, brushed it again almost immediately, and with the damaged tire lost several positions before finishing in 19th place.
That stumble left second place to Christian Eckes, who was coming off a poor start at Bristol where he had damaged the front of his Chevrolet. Behind him came Brent Crews, Daniel Hemric, and Ben Rhodes. Chandler Smith, who had received a penalty for interference with his own team on pit road, charged back to sixth place.

Enfinger also could not hold the position he had during the red flag. A tire issue cost him laps, and a penalty for deliberately causing a caution left him in 31st place. Tyler Ankrum and Ty Majeski, both with chances to advance in the Chase, lost ground due to separate punctures late in the race and finished 25th and 29th.
With five races remaining before the 2026 champion is decided, the Chase moves on to Talladega, one of the fastest ovals on the calendar, where the type of risk facing title contenders changes completely. For Riggs, it is the first real chance to cut into a deficit that slipped away from him in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
