Trucks Mexico Series wraps up its regular season with a race decided by thousandths of a second in Puebla

The Trucks México Series regular season ended at Puebla with a finish decided by seven thousandths of a second between two drivers, but what truly shapes the season is the final list of seven names that secured their spots in the Chase and those who were left out when no more opportunities remained.

Cruz had put his truck on pole in qualifying, with a time that barely edged Espinosa by thousandths and left Novelo immediately behind the two. At the start, however, Cruz lost the lead almost immediately, and Novelo and Espinosa took over the front to battle each other for the remainder of the race. Tire wear and the mandatory pit stop shuffled the order midway through the distance, and it was then that Cruz, who had fallen to the back of the pack after the start, began a charge that brought him back to the front before the checkered flag.

The rest was decided on the final lap. Novelo led with Espinosa glued to his rear bumper, and in the final meters before the line Espinosa found the space to get past and close out the regular season with the closest margin of the year in the category. Cruz completed his comeback with third place, while Rodríguez and Krüll finished fourth and fifth.

That finish also set the order for the Chase, with Espinosa entering as the leader and Novelo as second, with Novelo having already secured his spot weeks earlier at San Luis Potosí. Cruz, Rodríguez, Krüll, Aranda, and Fonseca complete the seven-driver field, with Krüll making it by the narrowest margin after a mechanical failure cost him ground at the penultimate round.

Arenas and Díaz arrived at Puebla with the last realistic chance to make the seven-driver field, having stayed near the qualifying zone for much of the season. Neither managed the result they needed, and both ended up outside the Chase.

The Chase will begin on September 4 and 5 at the Autódromo Monterrey, with the points of the seven qualifiers reset for the postseason. Espinosa arrives as the leader of the reset standings, followed by Novelo, Cruz, Rodríguez, Krüll, Aranda, and Fonseca.
