JR Motorsports Achieves the First 1-2-3-4 Finish in O'Reilly Series History at Indianapolis

Carson Kvapil scored his first victory in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a result that came with an unprecedented achievement for JR Motorsports. The team of Dale Earnhardt Jr. placed all four of its cars in the top four positions of the Pennzoil 250 with Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott, the first time a single organisation has put all its cars in the top four spots in the history of the series.

Kvapil took the lead by passing Chastain on lap 79 of the 100 scheduled and never gave it up. Allgaier closed the gap to less than three tenths on the white‑flag lap, but the leader stayed calm and finished with just over half a second to spare. "It means everything to me. It's very emotional. I did the victory lap thinking about all the work my dad Travis and I have done to get here," said Kvapil, who could not hold back tears after climbing out of the car. Kvapil thanked Earnhardt Jr., L.W. Miller and Kelley Miller for the opportunity. "Having a second chance this year and making the most of it like this is something I still can't believe," he added.

The race had very few interruptions. Only one caution for an on‑track incident, which meant the gaps were decided by pace rather than strategy. Allgaier, who has already locked up the top Chase seed with six wins this year, explained that his car was set up to be faster on long runs and that is why he could close in at the end. "We made good adjustments, we did everything right, but we just needed a couple more laps," he said. The 1‑2‑3‑4 for JR Motorsports is the team's 14th victory so far in 2026, with six different drivers, matching the record it had already set in 2025.

Kvapil's crew chief, Rodney Childers, was another protagonist of the race. Childers already knew what it was like to win at Indianapolis, having done it twice in the Cup Series with Kevin Harvick. His experience was key in keeping Kvapil in the fight throughout the race. Kvapil has put together his season with three different teams within JR Motorsports and also with DGM Racing, an effort that made this first victory even more special.

With seven of the twelve Chase berths already decided, the fight for the final spots tightened at Indianapolis. Taylor Gray finished 12th and still holds the final playoff spot, but his margin over William Sawalich is only seven points. Rajah Caruth, who won Stage 2 by staying out on used tyres, finished 22nd and is now 20 points below the cut‑off. Sheldon Creed, Corey Day, Brandon Jones and Austin Hill secured their places in the final phase. The series' next race is the eero 250 at Richmond, where the battle for the final Chase berth will add another chapter.
