IndyCar postponed the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway until Monday. The combination of the FIFA World Cup final, which went into extra time, and a thunderstorm that refused to leave the Tennessee oval left the series with no window to run the race on Sunday. The last time a full series race was postponed an entire day without having started was at Pocono, a decade ago.

The chain of delays began with the football match. IndyCar had adjusted its start time to wait for the broadcast to finish, but extra time and the subsequent trophy ceremony pushed the green flag far beyond what was planned. By the time the coverage ended and the cars were ready to go out, the rain had already settled over the 1.33‑mile oval. The teams remained in their pit stalls for hours, and track crews worked to dry the asphalt, but the precipitation continued and the forecast offered no sufficient window to safely complete the 300 laps. The series does not race on wet ovals; the loss of grip at the speeds these cars reach makes any attempt an unacceptable risk.

The starting grid remains unchanged for Monday. Kyle Kirkwood will start first in the Andretti Global Honda, Josef Newgarden will line up alongside him in the Penske Chevrolet, and Scott McLaughlin will complete the second row. Alex Palou, the championship leader, will start fourth for Chip Ganassi Racing, and David Malukas, who was unable to qualify on Saturday after a practice accident, will start last.
