Roberto Espinosa won the fifth round of the Trucks México Series at the Óvalo Aguascalientes México with a charge from 17th on the grid and solidified his position at the front of the championship. His margin over Gael Aguilar was 0.029 seconds, but the real difference was made by the retirement of Carlos Novelo, his closest pursuer in the standings, who scored no points after breaking his truck on the sixth lap.
Espinosa and Novelo arrived at the race separated by seven points, 183 to 176, with Everardo Fonseca and Valeria Aranda 22 and 23 points behind. Any movement in Aguascalientes would affect the standings, and the first to lose ground was Novelo when his #18 truck was knocked out by a mechanical failure in the early laps, just on the day Espinosa won again.
Espinosa managed the first part of the race without mistakes and with few incidents, using the segments to climb positions without needing to take risks, and by the second cut he was already among the top five with the pace to fight for the lead. The second half focused on the finish, with a caution flag two laps from the end that bunched up the survivors and erased the advantage he had built. On the restart, Santiago Cruz and Sebastián Rodríguez went together toward the #96 truck, but Espinosa held off the attack. Cruz and Rodríguez ended up tangled fighting for second place: the contact sent them into the wall and left a clear path for Gael Aguilar to take second, his first top‑three finish in the category.
Fonseca took third place and held off Edwin Arenas and Jesús Ruíz, who completed the top five. Rodríguez and Cruz finished sixth and seventh, one lap down because of the incident. Valeria Aranda, Arturo Vázquez and Jassyr Salazar occupied positions eight, nine and ten.
Espinosa's championship advantage grew considerably due to the double effect of his victory and Novelo's retirement. The Trucks México Series season resumes on June 26‑27 in Querétaro.
