The Sports Illustrated Resorts 250 at Nashville Superspeedway was decided with 20 laps to go, when Justin Allgaier passed Brent Crews and held the position in a clean exchange of moves that continued until the checkered flag. Allgaier finished 1.4 seconds ahead of the Toyota No. 19 of Joe Gibbs Motorsports and scored his fourth victory of the season in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, his third on that 1.33‑mile concrete oval. Crews, 18 years old, had started from 33rd, charged through the field all night, and led the race in two stints for a total of 45 laps at the front, the best figure of his young career in the category.
The celebration included a gesture that pointed directly to the previous Thursday. Allgaier climbed out through the roof hatch and bowed to the grandstand, a bow that replicates the signature move of Kyle Busch, who passed away from complications of pneumonia with sepsis. "It's been a tough couple of weeks, a lot of prayers for Samantha, Kyle and their kids," said the winner, who turns 40 next week and capped off the weekend by running a triathlon in downtown Nashville alongside his teammate Sammy Smith.
Jesse Love started from pole in the Chevrolet No. 2 of Richard Childress Racing and led 88 of the 188 laps, the most of the night, with 61 laps at the fastest pace. A mistake on a pit stop cost him a full lap in the second half of the race, and his subsequent recovery only got him to 16th place. The gap between Allgaier and Love in the championship grew from 145 to 179 points. "Our Camaro was flying, and I know we had a stumble in the pits, but we have the best team on pit lane. I just have to keep preparing myself and have faith that this is going to turn around," Love said.
William Sawalich finished third in the other JGR Toyota and scored his third consecutive top‑five finish. Sam Mayer was fourth in the Haas Factory Team Chevrolet, his fifth straight top‑ten at Nashville, and Brandon Jones rounded out the top five in another Gibbs Toyota. Kyle Larson, the reigning Cup Series champion, finished eighth in the Chevrolet No. 88 of JR Motorsports in a one‑off appearance.
The series enters its first break after 16 consecutive races and returns on June 13 at Pocono Raceway for the Miller Tech Battery 250. Allgaier will arrive with 770 points and a margin of 179 units over Love, the largest of the season. Crews summed up the duel after climbing out of the car: "That was the most fun I've ever had without winning."
