Denny Hamlin took home the million dollars at the 2026 All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway, the first edition of the non-points event. Hamlin qualified on pole on Saturday and controlled the final 200-lap segment, leading 103 laps to win ahead of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Chase Briscoe. Toyota occupied the top three spots with Erik Jones in third, the best result for Legacy Motor Club so far this season.

The new format of the All-Star Race caused confusion over the weekend because NASCAR eliminated the traditional Open that separated ineligible drivers and put all entrants together from the start. The first two 75‑lap segments served as a filter to cut the field to the 26 drivers who contested the final 200 laps. Prior eligibility based on wins in 2025 or 2026, series champions, or former All‑Star Race winners granted access to the decisive segment, but did not protect anyone from a crash in the first 150 laps. A wreck or mechanical failure in that phase could knock anyone out, regardless of their resume.

That combination of everyone racing together and real risk for the favorites shook up the first segment with two nine‑car accidents that eliminated Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney. Kyle Larson and Joey Logano retired later, and Tyler Reddick, who had won the second segment, withdrew due to a steering problem. Bubba Wallace won the first segment and Reddick the second, both in Toyotas, but neither reached the closing stages with a chance to win.

Hamlin and Briscoe combined to lead 164 of the 200 laps of the final segment. Hamlin passed Briscoe on lap 171 and held the lead to the checkered flag. It is his second All-Star Race win in twenty appearances; his previous one came at Charlotte in 2015, and he becomes the third driver to win the event at two different tracks. Upon receiving the check, he said he would give it to his mother, a gesture that weighed heavily on the weekend because his father passed away in December in a fire that destroyed his parents' home.

Connor Zilisch climbed from the back to fifth place after receiving a pit penalty mid‑race. Zilisch, who is in his first year in the Cup Series, explained that having the pace to fight and feeling aggressive was a relief in a season that had been complicated as he adapts to the category.

Austin Dillon was fourth in the Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, and Austin Cindric sixth in the Team Penske Ford. William Byron, Michael McDowell, Alex Bowman, and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top ten. Keselowski had started on the front row alongside Hamlin but was caught in a multi‑car accident in the second segment and had to fight his way back.

The All-Star Race does not award championship points, and what happened at Dover does not change the overall standings. Tyler Reddick maintains the 129‑point advantage over Hamlin that he built at Watkins Glen and Texas before this weekend. The series returns to points‑paying action with the Coca‑Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Ross Chastain defends his 2025 victory.
