Pascal Wehrlein found the winning formula on Friday in Jeddah, and Antonio Felix da Costa copied it on Saturday to break a 20-month winless streak dating back to Portland 2024.
The Portuguese driver for Jaguar activated his Attack Mode on lap 17, exactly the same window Wehrlein had used 24 hours earlier, building a 3.5-second lead that no one could recover in the remaining 13 laps. It is his first victory with Jaguar since joining the British team, which now accumulates six wins in the nine races held this season.
Sébastien Buemi finished second for Envision Racing, scoring his first podium of the year, while Oliver Rowland finished third with Nissan, recovering from the disastrous 17th place he had achieved on Friday at the same Saudi track.
Saturday's race eliminated the mandatory Pit Boost stop, leaving only Attack Mode as the strategic variable. Drivers had to activate two periods of extra 50kW power during the 30-lap race, and the timing chosen to do so determined the final results.
Mortara Loses from the Front for the Second Time
Edoardo Mortara achieved his second consecutive pole position but finished fourth, unable to convert his starting advantage into a victory. The Swiss driver for Mahindra Racing led several segments of the race during the first 15 laps, when all drivers managed their electrical consumption waiting for the optimal moment to activate their Attack Modes.
Mortara waited until lap 23 to take his second Attack Mode activation, five laps later than da Costa. That delay allowed him to gain several positions in the final laps, but da Costa had already built an insurmountable gap by the time Mortara finally used his extra power.
On Friday, Mortara had locked up his tires at the start and lost the lead immediately. On Saturday he maintained the initial first position, but the Attack Mode strategy again left him off the podium despite having the best qualifying time.
Jaguar Accumulates Six Wins in Nine Races
Da Costa became the third Jaguar driver to win this season, joining Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy. The British team has placed its cars in first place in six of the nine races held so far, setting the most dominant pace of any organization so far in the 2025-26 championship.
Evans finished seventh in Jeddah after having achieved third place on Friday. The New Zealander has 47 points in the individual classification, sitting in fifth place in the drivers' championship, 21 points behind Pascal Wehrlein. Da Costa moved up to seventh place in the championship with 39 points, tied with Jake Dennis.
Dan Ticktum was fifth for Cupra Kiro ahead of his teammate Pepe Martí, who finished sixth. The two drivers for the American team collided on the penultimate lap fighting for fifth position, although both were able to finish the race without major consequences. Jean-Eric Vergne scored two points for Citroën with ninth place and Taylor Barnard closed out the points positions in tenth with DS Penske.
Porsche Falls from Dominance to Eighth Place
Pascal Wehrlein finished eighth, a result that differs completely from the victory and fastest lap he had achieved 24 hours earlier on the same track. The German driver for Porsche could not find the pace that had allowed him to open an eight-second gap over his pursuers in the first race of the weekend.
Wehrlein maintains the top spot in the championship with 68 points, six units ahead of Mortara who has 62. Rowland moved up to third place individually with 49 points with his Saturday podium, recovering from the disastrous 17th place he had obtained on Friday. Nick Cassidy dropped to fourth place with 48 points, losing a position to Rowland.
Porsche maintains the lead in the team championship with 113 points compared to Jaguar's 86, although that difference was reduced compared to the 50-point margin they had at the end of Friday's race. In manufacturers, Porsche totals 143 points over Jaguar's 124. Cassidy did not score points for the second time in five races this season, finishing outside the points positions after having started from eighth place.
