Nick Cassidy gained 12 positions at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez to win the Mexico City E-Prix. Cassidy overtook Edoardo Mortara and Oliver Rowland in the final turns, delivering Citroën its first victory in Formula E in only its second race.

Cassidy leads the drivers' championship with 40 points after two rounds, eight points ahead of Jake Dennis. Citroën leads the teams' championship with 44 points to Andretti's 36.

Cassidy activates Attack Mode on lap 27 and takes the lead

The victory depended on the precise timing to activate the two mandatory 50kW Attack Mode periods. The two-time Formula E champion used his first period on lap 27 when several competitors had already used theirs, gaining positions with available energy. The second activation came on lap 30, he took the lead and built a 1.3-second margin over Mortara.

Mortara finished second for Mahindra Racing with 18 points in the season. He had to manage his final Attack Mode period in the closing laps but couldn't catch Cassidy, who completed a solid defense in the last two laps.

Rowland adds 15 points with conservative energy management

Rowland applied conservative energy management in the first half and late Attack Mode activations, a strategy that worked for him in São Paulo. He started eighth and finished third, adding 15 points that place him third in the championship with 34 points, six behind Cassidy.

Taylor Barnard led the first lap when the original pole position of Sébastien Buemi was reassigned due to a track limits violation in qualifying. Barnard pressured Buemi into the first corner, forcing Envision into a defensive error that sent his car into the escape road and to the back of the pack. Barnard dropped to fourth place in the second half of the race, finishing 1.4 seconds behind the winner.

Dennis finished fifth for Andretti with the fastest lap, a result that keeps him second in the championship with 36 points. He couldn't replicate the perfect red flag reading that gave him victory in São Paulo, where he conserved Attack Mode for the final restart.

Wehrlein and Müller finish in the points for Porsche

Pascal Wehrlein completed the top six for Porsche. He briefly led in the first half when he was the first to activate Attack Mode, but lost positions when the rest of the competitors used their 50kW periods. Porsche adds 35 points in the constructors' standings, tied with Nissan for third place.

Pepe Martí scored his first six points in Formula E with a comeback from 20th position to seventh place. He received a 60-place grid penalty for a power unit change after the crash in São Paulo, plus a Stop/Go penalty for repairs. CUPRA KIRO scores its first points of the season.

Jean-Éric Vergne finished eighth for Citroën, Nico Müller ninth for Porsche, and Norman Nato tenth for Nissan. All three scored points after complicated races in São Paulo.

Buemi loses victory chance with defensive error

Buemi recovered to seventh place by lap 18 with energy management superior to the rest, but a puncture forced him to pit. He finished 17th with three points for starting from pole position. "I should have accepted P2 in the first corner," Buemi explained to media. "I can't remember the last time we were this competitive."

The race had a Full Course Yellow on lap 17 when Nyck de Vries' Mahindra needed to be retrieved. The neutralization affected Rowland, who had activated Attack Mode just before and saw his 50kW period reduced under yellow flags.

Dan Ticktum and António Félix da Costa did not finish the race. Mitch Evans finished 11th for Jaguar, a team that has zero points in the season after two rounds.

Stellantis leads manufacturers' championship with 44 points

Stellantis (Citroën and DS Penske) leads the manufacturers' championship with 44 points. Porsche adds 35 points in second place. Formula E returns on January 17 in Miami for the third round of season 12.
