Corey Heim set a new NASCAR Truck Series record by securing his tenth victory of the 2025 season. The win in the EcoSave 250 on Friday, October 3rd at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course secured his spot in the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway on October 31st.

Heim started from the pole but crashed on the first lap when Grant Enfinger hit Layne Riggs in turn 1. The impact sent the No. 11 from TRICON Garage into the barrier, leaving the Toyota with significant front-end damage.

Six Pit Stops to Repair Crash Damage

"I thought we were done, honestly. The right front tire was completely bent when it hit the wall," explained Heim. The team made six pit stops to correct the rub on the left rear tire and adjust the steering.

"My steering wheel was like 45 degrees to the left," added Heim. The truck never regained its practice and qualifying performance, but Heim managed to fight his way back to the front for the final showdown.

Heim Stays Out When Crews Pits

Brent Crews led 56 of the 70 laps, the most of any driver in the event. When Toni Breidinger stalled in turn 5, bringing out the fourth caution, the race went into overtime with Crews in the lead. Crews pitted along with Connor Zilisch from third place. Heim stayed out on track with Connor Mosack, Riggs, and Chandler Smith.

Riggs had been running without a sway bar since the initial accident. On the restart, he suffered clutch issues and blocked the outside line. Several trucks spun behind him. Heim opened a gap in the two additional laps. "We had a super fast truck, as you could see," said Crews. "I was out there leading the race today, had a lot of fun. Really happy for TRICON today with the 1-2-3, and congratulations to the whole No. 11 team. I was glad to see them get back to the front, but I definitely didn't want to see them stay out."

TRICON Places Three Trucks in the Top 3

Giovanni Ruggiero finished third. It was the first time TRICON has placed three entries in the top spots of a race. "It wasn't easy today, I think it was probably the hardest one of the year so far," said Heim. "It just shows the resilience of this TRICON team. They fixed it so well for me after that incident on the first lap." Heim now has 21 career victories, seventh on the all-time series list. It is his first win on Charlotte's hybrid layout.

Seven Drivers Clustered Near the Cutline

Daniel Hemric and Tyler Ankrum are tied for second place with 3,051 points, two points above the cutline. Rajah Caruth has 3,050, one point ahead of Riggs. Ty Majeski is two points back with 3,048. Grant Enfinger and Kaden Honeycutt have 3,046, four points below the cutline.

Riggs finished 21st and expressed his frustration. "We got hit by the 9 (Enfinger). I don't really understand what his thought process is. People say you should take advice from veterans and learn from them how to race, and they race worse than anyone. This is the second time this year the No. 9 truck has hit us, at Watkins Glen and here, both road courses, two separate incidents, both clearly his fault." Honeycutt won the first two stages but finished 14th. Connor Zilisch came fifth, followed by Josh Bilicki, Enfinger, Majeski, Ankrum, and Mosack. The second race of the Round of 8 will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
