Salvador de Alba Jr. wins double in GTM Pro 1 Chihuahua Super Cup Roshfrans cuts championship points

He cuts 89 crucial points from Richards and Jourdain while taking second place in the truck category during round 7

Salvador de Alba Jr. won both GTM Pro 1 races at the seventh round of the Super Copa Roshfrans held at the Autódromo Francisco Villa. The driver scored 89 crucial points that bring him closer to the championship leaders and also achieved second place in the tractor-trailer trucks category. Before this round, Emiliano Richards was leading with 562 points, followed by Paul Jourdain with 498. De Alba Jr. occupied the third step with 473 points. "I leave Chihuahua with a great haul of points that brings me closer to the leaders, so I certainly don't rule out the possibility of winning my sixth championship," he declared after his second victory.

De Alba Jr. showed his speed from the first activities of the weekend. In qualifying for race 1, he beat José Arellano and Emiliano Richards to take pole position. "I think we improved the car. It's a great sensation, a great feeling, and of course, I'm very happy with this, especially because I think I can win," he expressed after taking his first pole of the weekend. For race 2, he repeated the pole, this time ahead of Irwin Vences and "Keko" Pérez. "It was the almost perfect lap," he commented on his second consecutive pole.

Mateo Girón debuts authoritatively in GTM Light from ninth overall

Mateo Girón won both GTM Light races on his debut. The young driver won his category and finished ninth in the overall classification of the first race, mixing it up with drivers from PRO1 and PRO2. "I think I delivered and felt very good in the car even though I just got to know it during practice and qualifying," explained Girón after his first victory. In race 2, he reaffirmed his level: "I couldn't say goodbye to Chihuahua any better and I proved that despite my young age, I am at the level of the greats." Carlos Novelo joined Girón on the podium in the second race, while Juan Carlos Núñez consistently completed the top three in both competitions.

"Keko" Pérez and Santos Zanella Sr. share wins in PRO2

The local driver "Keko" Pérez took the first GTM Pro 2 race in front of his home crowd. "I keep adding good points for the championship and we'll go for more at the next round in Puebla," declared Pérez after crossing fifth overall but first in his category. Rafael Vallina occupied the second step of the podium in the first race. "It wasn't to be but there's always a rematch, which I will seek in the second race," he commented. Santos Zanella Sr. prevailed in the second PRO2 race. The driver took the opportunity to score valuable championship points.

Santiago Tovar extends winning streak in tractor-trailer trucks with third win of the year

Santiago Tovar won in the tractor-trailer trucks category starting from sixth position. The driver thus scores his third win of the 2025 season, after his victories in Querétaro and León. "The team did a great job with the truck. We started from sixth position, and from there it all depended on what I did," expressed Tovar after his victory. Salvador de Alba Jr. had been the fastest in tractor-trailer truck qualifying, beating Enrique Dueñas and Juan Cantú. However, in the race he finished second. "This is very important for us, we have worked hard to reach this podium," he commented. Juan Cantú completed the podium in third position. "There are days you don't forget. Today is one of them because there were moments when I had to push myself to the limit to achieve it," he expressed.

The Super Copa Roshfrans season will continue on September 28th at the Autódromo Miguel E. Abed in Puebla. The campaign will conclude on November 29th at the Autódromo de Monterrey.
