Connor Zilisch won the Nu Way 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway and tied the NASCAR Xfinity Series record of four consecutive victories. The driver of the #88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports led 121 of 160 laps to win the regular season championship by 53 points over Justin Allgaier.

Zilisch Ties Historic Record

Zilisch started from the pole and maintained the lead through multiple restarts. The victory is his ninth of the year and tenth of his career. JR Motorsports set a team record with 16 victories in a single season.

Sam Ard (1983) and Noah Gragson (2022) had previously achieved four consecutive wins. Zilisch adds 59 playoff points for the playoffs that begin next week at Bristol.

"Four in a row, seven of the last eight, that's pretty cool. We're going to celebrate this and the regular season championship. It's going to be hard to maintain this pace, honestly. It's rare that you can put a streak like this together."

William Sawalich Finishes Second for Second Straight Week

William Sawalich passed Aric Almirola on the lap 149 restart and finished second. Sawalich needed to win to qualify for the playoffs instead of Harrison Burton, but couldn't catch Zilisch.

"The 88 (Zilisch), he was on rails tonight," said Sawalich. "I think he was definitely the best car all night. We didn't make the playoffs, but we gave them a fight."

Sawalich had also finished second last week. Christian Eckes was third, Brandon Jones fourth and Jesse Love fifth. Almirola fell to sixth place.

Allgaier Crashes in Multi-Car Wreck on Lap 135

Justin Allgaier lost his chances at the regular season championship when he crashed on lap 135. His #7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports was damaged in an 11-car accident in turn 1. Sam Mayer also crashed in the same incident and finished third in the regular season points.

Allgaier's accident secured the championship for Zilisch. Allgaier had led 28 laps and was fighting for the win before the incident.

Harrison Burton qualified for the playoffs on points after Allgaier's crash. Burton had spun in turn 2 on lap 129 after contact from Brennan Poole, but finished 22nd and claimed the final playoff spot by 45 points over his cousin Jeb Burton.

Jeb Burton Out with Tire Failure on Lap 100

Jeb Burton lost his playoff chances when his right front tire went flat on lap 100. The #27 Chevrolet hit the outside wall in turn 2 with fire in the wheel well.

Burton brought the car to pit road and exited uninjured, but his race ended there. He had arrived with slim mathematical chances of qualifying.

"It was a hard hit," said Burton. "It's a shame, but we'll go to Bristol next week."

Zilisch Raced with Broken Collarbone at Daytona

Zilisch broke his collarbone celebrating his victory at Watkins Glen. He started the Daytona race on August 22nd but turned the car over to Parker Kligerman, who completed 91 of 104 laps to win. Zilisch receives official credit for that victory as he started the race.

The four-race win streak includes Watkins Glen, Daytona (with Kligerman), Michigan, and Gateway.
