Connor Zilisch won the Pennzoil 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Saturday, extending his perfect streak to three consecutive races. The 19-year-old driver delivered JR Motorsports their 100th series victory, defeating Sam Mayer in a finale where his teammate Justin Allgaier was knocked out by an incident.

Justin Allgaier loses race due to crash with Kyle Larson

The veteran driver appeared headed for his fourth win of the year when he regained the lead from Kyle Larson on lap 74 with an outside move. Allgaier maintained the lead until the restart on lap 87 changed everything: Larson's #17 Chevrolet lost traction in turn 1 and sent Allgaier's #7 into the outside wall.

I really feel bad for Justin, because he's been the cornerstone of this company for so many years. He's been reliable, hardworking, great with our partners, and he wants to do these things for us.

With Allgaier eliminated in 36th position, the final battle came down to Zilisch and Taylor Gray on the restart with four laps to go. A push from Mayer's Ford allowed Zilisch to take control on lap 99 of 100 and maintain the lead until the checkered flag.

"I see some bricks that look kissable, and I'm going to kiss them," declared Zilisch, referencing the tradition started by Dale Jarrett. "This is incredible. One hundred wins for JRM. Congratulations to Dale, Kelley, L.W. (Miller), everyone who has raced for JRM, everyone who works at JRM."

"I'm the smallest part of this team, and I'm very happy to be part of it."

Zilisch's fifth victory of the season came after wins at Sonoma Raceway and Dover Motor Speedway in his two previous starts. The driver, who turned 19 the previous Tuesday, cut Allgaier's championship lead to 21 points with five races remaining in the regular season.

Austin Hill penalized for aggressive driving against Almirola

A violent crash between Aric Almirola and Austin Hill brought out the final restart with four laps to go. On lap 91, Almirola went for the inside of Hill's #21 Chevrolet coming out of the short chute into turn 4.

Hill's car became unstable but recovered, then turned left into Almirola's Toyota, sending the Supra hard into the outside wall.

"Of course it was intentional," Almirola commented after his mandatory visit to the track medical center. "It was time to attack, I destabilized him, and he just turned left and hooked me in the right rear. Honestly, it was one of the hardest hits of my entire NASCAR career."

NASCAR held Hill's Camaro on pit road for five laps for aggressive driving and will review the incident during the week for possible additional penalties.
