Germán Quiroga secured his first victory of the season at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed in Amozoc, Puebla, defeating Xavi Razo in a race that determined the final spots for the playoffs. The driver of car No. 69 achieved the win after a season without reaching the top step of the podium.
Alex de Alba was crowned regular season champion of NASCAR México Series after finishing eighth in the Puebla race. The driver of the No. 14 car earned enough points to secure the title after arriving at the final event as the championship leader.
Quiroga salvages his playoff ticket
The driver had qualified seventh and maintained a consistent pace during the scheduled 110 laps. "I wasn't resigned, I thought the race wasn't lost, and when everything tightened up, I made the heroic move, not just for me but for the whole team that had been chasing this for a long time," Quiroga explained after getting out of the car.
Rubén Rovelo had started from pole position, his first privileged starting spot since Aguascalientes 2022. The driver of the No. 28 desperately needed a win to make the playoffs from 33rd place in the overall standings.
De Alba handles regular season championship with cool head
De Alba arrived in Puebla as the championship leader with two wins under his belt, obtained in Chiapas and Aguascalientes. Despite suffering early contact that forced him to recover positions, the driver managed the situation intelligently.
This is a great achievement for the whole team and I knew I couldn't ruin it, things unfolded as we planned and now we're going for everything in the playoffs
In the Challenge category, Helio Meza earned his third victory of the season, while Jorge de la Parra was crowned regular season champion. The team placed two drivers in the playoffs. Giancarlo Vecchi finished second in Challenge, followed by Víctor Barrales, who prepares for the playoffs that will begin in his hometown.
The playoffs move to Súper Óvalo Potosino
The NASCAR México Series playoffs will begin on August 10 in San Luis Potosí with five elimination races. Alex de Alba will seek his first absolute championship, while Quiroga will try to capitalize on the momentum from his Puebla victory.
Sunday's race delivered the final tickets to the championship's final phase, with Abraham Calderón, Max Gutiérrez, José Luis Ramírez, Santiago Tovar and Rubén García Jr. completing the top ten positions.
