First GTM Pro 1 race: Victory number 8 for Salvador
The GTM Pro 1 Race 1 started at 10:25 am on Sunday, June 29 in Aguascalientes. Salvador de Alba Jr. led the 40-minute competition, although Emiliano Richards managed to pressure him and even led some laps.
"I thought I could take the victory from him, but he had a better car than me," acknowledged Richards, who finished second. Jorge de la Parra completed the podium, achieving his first top 3 of the 2025 season: "The team deserved it, and this pushes me to seek more good results."
Second race with a close finish in Aguascalientes
The second race of the Súper Copa Roshfrans had more drama. Franco Zanella and Paul Jourdain kept close to Salvador de Alba Jr. throughout the competition. Zanella secured second place in the final meters, but the driver never lost the lead in Aguascalientes.
With this ninth consecutive victory, De Alba Jr. moves closer to the title of the 2025 Gran Turismo México championship. The Guadalajara-native remains undefeated in the current season of the Súper Copa Roshfrans.
José Luis "Keko" Pérez was the big winner in GTM Pro 2 after winning both weekend races in Aguascalientes. The driver moves closer to the overall lead with these results in the 2025 Súper Copa Roshfrans.
Santos Zanella and Rafael Vallina joined Pérez on the podium for the first race. In the second race, Vallina moved up to second place. The GTM Light category had two winners: Gerardo Peralta in Race 1 and Juan Carlos Núñez in Race 2.
Salvador also wins in FOTON Trucks
Salvador de Alba Jr.'s perfect Sunday was completed with his victory in the Trucks category. The driver achieved his second victory of the year in a final that kept the Aguascalientes crowd on their feet.
"I enjoyed seeing the crowd on their feet during a great final. Of course, I can't relax until the championship is secured, but I feel a bit more comfortable with today's points," commented De Alba Jr. Juan Cantú finished second: "We did great work, until exhaustion, and that earned us this reward." Enrique Dueñas completed the podium.
Next round: Hermanos Rodríguez will be crucial for the title
The sixth round of the Gran Turismo México championship will take place on August 15-16 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Salvador de Alba Jr. could mathematically secure the 2025 Súper Copa Roshfrans title if he maintains his unbeaten streak.
"I can't relax until the championship is secured," stated De Alba Jr., who has accumulated nine victories in nine GTM Pro 1 races during 2025.
