Corey Heim led 99 of the 100 laps in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series debut at Lime Rock Park, Connecticut. The driver of the #11 Toyota for TRICON Garage secured his fifth victory of the season and the 16th of his career on the road course.

The only lap Heim didn't lead was during the restart with five laps to go, when Layne Riggs briefly passed him at the finish line. Riggs braked late in the first turn and caused a stack-up between drivers from second to fifth place, losing several positions in the process.

These road courses are something I really look forward to and prepare extensively for, so to see all that work pay off with Safelite, TRICON and Toyota is super special

Consistent performance from the start

Heim set the fastest lap of the race on his second circuit with a time of 54.941 seconds. During the first 35-lap stage, he built a substantial lead over Riggs, with Jordan Taylor finishing third in that segment.

"Obviously, the truck was excellent today. I can't complain one bit. A flawless day and we'll take it to move forward and try to get some wins we should have had this year."

ThorSport Racing places three drivers in the top 5

Defending champion Ty Majeski benefited from Riggs' mistake on the final restart to finish second. "Honestly, we struggled a bit with the truck at the start," Majeski explained. "We progressively improved it in each run. At the end I was close, I had a chance against Corey and probably got too excited in turn 4, hit the curb and ruined my opportunity to at least make him nervous."

Rookie Giovanni Ruggiero completed the podium, followed by Ben Rhodes and Australian Cam Waters. ThorSport Racing managed to place three of its drivers in the top five with Majeski, Rhodes and Waters.

Historic achievement for Heim on road courses

With this victory, Heim became the first driver in Truck Series history to win three consecutive races on road courses. He previously won at Mid-Ohio in 2023 and at Circuit of the Americas last year.

The second stage was a repeat of the first. Heim again pulled away from Riggs at the end of the segment, while Taylor finished third. The two stage wins were numbers 13 and 14 for Heim this season.

Sports car star Jordan Taylor, who had finished third in the first two stages, fell to 20th in the final standings. Riggs finished in 13th place after dropping to 12th during the first turn incident.

The race had three caution flags for 13 laps, with the winner's average speed of 71.651 mph during just over two hours of competition.
