Allgaier wins third race of 2025 at Nashville Superspeedway

The reigning champion extended his points advantage

Justin Allgaier added another guitar to his personal collection after his performance on Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway. The driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet led 101 of the 188 laps in the Tennessee Lottery 250, securing his third victory of the 2025 season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The reigning series champion had to withstand pressure from his teammate Connor Zilisch during the final segments of the race. The gap between the two drivers remained under half a second for the last 20 laps, until lapped traffic allowed Allgaier to establish the definitive 1.289-second margin.

Zilisch maintains consistency as rookie

Connor Zilisch's performance in his first visit to the 1.33-mile concrete oval demonstrated the 18-year-old's quick adaptation. The rookie earned stage points in both segments and climbed into the top five before lap 70, leading 18 laps during his turn at the front.

A caution flag with 53 laps remaining interrupted Zilisch's lead. On the subsequent restart, Allgaier took advantage of a three-way battle to take the lead with 48 laps to go, a position he wouldn't relinquish until the checkered flag.

I thought I might get the position back, but clean air is crucial. During the first 20 laps of a long run, whoever has clean air will prevail because they can keep their equipment cooler without having to push as hard

Top-five results and championship implications

Sam Mayer of the Haas Factory Team completed the podium in his No. 41 Ford, followed by teammate Sheldon Creed in the No. 00. Ross Chastain, winner of last week's Cup race, finished fifth in JR Motorsports' third Chevrolet.

Aric Almirola, Austin Hill, Jesse Love, Carson Kvapil and Sammy Smith rounded out the top ten. This victory marks the first win by a full-time Xfinity Series driver in the last three races.

With this result, Allgaier extended his championship lead over Richard Childress Racing's Austin Hill to 92 points. The series will have an off week before returning to action on Saturday, June 14 with the Chilango 150 at Mexico City's Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

A family victory for Allgaier

The 39-year-old driver had joked before the race about needing to win a second Nashville guitar so each of his two young daughters could have their own. During the victory celebration, Allgaier thanked his team for their work.

"These guys deserve this win more than anything. I hurt them last week in Charlotte with a bad pit call, even though we had a car just as good. But this time it was Chevrolet, which was absolutely incredible," commented the veteran driver.

The next NASCAR Xfinity Series event will be broadcast by The CW, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 4:30 p.m. ET from the Mexican circuit.
