William Byron renews through 2029 with Hendrick Motorsports

Hendrick Motorsports announced the contract renewal of William Byron for four additional seasons, securing his position behind the wheel of the Chevrolet #24 until the end of the 2029 NASCAR Cup Series campaign. Byron joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2016 when he was just 18 years old. His first full season in 2018 showed glimpses of what was to come: although he didn't win any races, he already demonstrated enough speed to remain competitive. The team's patience paid off when he began winning regularly starting in 2020.

The turning point came in 2023 with six victories in a single season, setting a new personal standard. That campaign catapulted him among the serious title contenders, finishing third in the overall championship and proving he had reached competitive maturity.

Since Rudy Fugle became his crew chief in 2021, Byron has found the consistency he was looking for. The duo has achieved 13 victories together, becoming one of the most successful combinations in the current paddock.
