NASCAR announced that Homestead-Miami Speedway will once again host the season finale starting in 2026. The 1.5-mile oval in southern Florida will return as the championship-deciding venue after Phoenix Raceway held that privilege since 2020.

The final races for the three main series — NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series — are scheduled for November 6-8, 2026 in southern Florida. This change is part of a new policy to rotate the finale among different major tracks and key markets.

We're excited to return. It's a great track where many drivers made history. Without a doubt, it will provide great moments in 2026.

Rotation of venues for future championships

Phoenix Raceway, which will have hosted the championship races between 2020 and 2025, will remain in this rotation and will hold a spot in the Round of 8 during next year's Playoffs. The other tracks that will be part of this rotation system starting in 2027 will be announced later.

"Weather is a key factor in our decision," Kennedy stated. "In early November we want to be in warm areas where fans can enjoy without worrying about storms or cold temperatures."

"We're also looking for large metropolitan areas that can properly host us. Phoenix fulfilled that role for several years, and now we'll invest in Homestead-Miami to improve its facilities," he added.

Preparations at the Florida track

Homestead-Miami hosted NASCAR's season finale from 2002 through 2019, a period that included the introduction of the Chase in 2004 and the transition to the elimination format that began in 2014.

Guillermo Santa Cruz, the track president, indicated they will make improvements before November 2026: "We'll do painting work and other renovations in guest areas. In South Florida, although that time of year usually has good weather, we need to provide shade for greater comfort."

Santa Cruz also mentioned the racing surface will remain untouched: "Regarding the track itself, there's not much to do. It's in perfect condition and produces good racing. I've been advised not to modify it, so I won't, but we will improve other areas."

2026: A big sports year for Miami

"For our community, the return of the championship is very important. People have been asking for it to come back for years," Santa Cruz commented. "For Miami-Dade, 2026 was already shaping up to be a big sports year, and now it will be even bigger."

The region will host in 2026 the College Football National Championship (NCAA), the NHL Winter Classic, the World Baseball Classic, a Formula One race, and FIFA World Cup matches, before finally closing with the NASCAR Cup Series championship.

Three currently active drivers have won championships at Homestead-Miami: Kyle Busch (2015 and 2019), Brad Keselowski (2012), and Joey Logano (2018), who also won championships at Phoenix in 2022 and 2024.
