The fourth round of the Trucks México Series championship confirmed this Sunday, April 13th what has become a phenomenon in national motorsports. Mateo Girón, behind the wheel of the #5 truck, claimed his fourth consecutive victory in 2025, maintaining a perfect record that cements his status as the series' dominant figure.
Inverted grid and new protagonists emerge
The regulations mandated an inversion of the top ten qualifiers from Saturday for Sunday's race, placing Santiago Cruz in his #2 truck in the pole position for the 40 scheduled laps at the Miguel E. Abed International Autodrome in Amozoc, Puebla.
When the green flag waved at 11:40 AM, the race took an unexpected turn after an incident in the opening laps. This situation allowed Gerardo Rodríguez in the #26 truck to overtake Cruz and take the lead, a position he maintained firmly through the first half of the race.
The difference is made in pit lane
As lap 20 was completed, the flag signaled the end of the first segment, when teams took the opportunity for technical adjustments. It was precisely at this point that Mateo Girón's team demonstrated their precision.
The #5 truck's pit stop was executed flawlessly, allowing the driver from Zacatecas to return to the track ahead of Rodríguez. From that moment on, Girón managed each sector of the Puebla circuit with precision, building a solid advantage until crossing the finish line in first position.
New faces on the podium
Santiago Cruz converted his advantageous starting position into a valuable second-place finish, securing his first podium of the current season. Third place marked a return to the honors for Roberto "Bob" Espinosa, who in his #96 truck broke a streak of poor results.
For Gerardo Rodríguez, who controlled much of the race, fourth place left mixed feelings. Valeria Aranda rounded out the top five with a consistent performance in her #27 truck.
The schedule now calls for a break of just over one month, as the fifth round of the Trucks México Series will take place on May 18th at the Aguascalientes Super Oval, where all competitors will look to end Girón's winning streak.
