Aquiles Speedway Park inaugurates 2025 season

Last Sunday, March 9, Aquiles Speedway Park kicked off the 2025 season with the first round of the PPG Paints Championship, titled "Gran Premio AUTOLUX". After several months of inactivity since November of the previous year, the oval located in Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, welcomed numerous fans who enjoyed the races across seven participating categories.

Gran Premio AUTOLUX Results

The races had several interruptions with yellow flags, reducing the scheduled time for some events. The unofficial results were:

Novatos V8

Car #99, driven by Jovan Alvarado Jr., recently promoted from the Pony category, took the victory. Second place went to Andarik Páez (#27), while Daniel Calzadillas (#12) completed the top three.

Pony Novatos

César Figueroa in car B02 crossed the finish line first. Alejandro Ruiz (#42) and Luis Pérez (#53) finished second and third, respectively.

Pony Expertos

Manuel Pérez Jr. (#13) controlled the race and finished in first place. Second position went to Ricardo González (#19), followed by Jorge Gómez (#17).

Estándar

In this division, Fily Guerra (#F21) secured his first victory of the season. Second place was taken by Rubén Alvarado (#38), while Aníbal García (#12) finished third.

Modificada

Humberto Pérez (#8) continued his good results from 2024 and won the race. Aarón Córdoba (#7) and Oswaldo Fierro (#7) completed the podium.

Libre

Jorge Balderrama’s (#97) performance caught the crowd's attention as he won the race after repairing his car, which suffered steering damage during practice. Gustavo Pérez (#G3) and Aarón Córdoba (#7) finished second and third.

Vintage

Alex Carrasco, driving car M3, secured first place, while Luis García (#80) and Jonathan Sígala (#04) finished second and third.

Tribute to Otto Stage Muñoz

During the event, a posthumous tribute was held for Otto Stage Muñoz, a motorsports promoter in Chihuahua and founder of Autódromo Francisco Villa, whose contributions have been crucial for the sport in the region.

Technical and Organizational Aspects

The implementation of transponder timing has improved accuracy in time measurement. However, some participants expressed concern over persistent technical failures in this system, considering that all of 2024 was available for optimization.

The event started an hour late, a situation that has repeated in previous editions. Organizers emphasized the need to respect restricted access areas to ensure the safety of all attendees.

2025 Schedule

The second round of the PPG Paints Championship is scheduled for April 27, marking the last daytime race before switching to the night format, which will continue until the season ends in November.

The championship includes a total of eight rounds, one of which will be a joint event with the national Súper Copa series.
